FOREST CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -- If big cities can do it then little towns can do it too.

"I grew up in Forest City and the three other gentlemen are also from Forest City and we just decided it was a good place that we could put a festival and get some more name recognition for our community," said Gary Dewaard, one of the event coordinators

The town has only 4,000 people, but when the Tree Town Festival begins the population more than doubles.

"How could we miss this? I mean all these country artists this close to home? We had to all come," says country music fan Abbigail Egli.

What the town lacks in size it makes up for with major headline acts.

"It's crazy I never thought I would see half of these guys let alone all of them in one place. It's just an amazing thing and an opportunity we can't miss," said Egli.

The concert featured established stars like Brad Paisley to up and comers like JT Hodges. For the artists, getting on stage takes them back to their home towns.

"You gotta go back to the place of every one of those songs. Why you wrote them. When you wrote them. Once you get ito that zone. You bring the folks in and it's fun," said singer JT Hodges.

Being on stage gives them a chance to connect with the audience.

"If I can get them to raise a couple beers and do a couple of chugs with me I'm happy," said Hodges.

The concert could get even bigger next year after Saturday's announcement that Blake Shelton will be headlining the concert in 2015.
